Culverts

A culvert is the pipe under a driveway or through a ditch so water can keep moving instead of washing out the stone or flooding the yard. On rural Chesterton, Westville, and county-road lots that is often the whole job: set the pipe, pack the ends, and rebuild the drive over it.

I look at the ditch, the driveway width, and how hard the water comes after rain. Then I size and set the culvert so it actually flows, not just sits there. If the drive above it needs new gravel after, we do that in the same trip when we can.
